North Shields & Newton Aycliffe Plants – Formica Ltd
BCE Northern have preferred contractor status and are engaged by Formica Ltd to undertake New Build, Improvement and Maintenance Works at Formica UK’s Production and Distribution Facilities at North Shields and Newton Aycliffe plants.
We have operated at both facilities for a number of years and have undertaken a wide variety of construction projects.
Most recently we have refurbished a Production Warehouse to facilitate the installation of a new “sheeter” machine plant imported from Germany.
This work involved construction of a 70m long M&E and switch gear control room and external plant room to house new industrial boilers.
Construction consisted of steel framed buildings with brickwork and blockwork walls and composite concrete roof construction to carry heavy loading. Machine pits were excavated and constructed in reinforced concrete for the new equipment. Heavy duty roller shutter doors were installed to the existing elevation to form a new access with associated alterations to cladding and highway access.
Due to the nature of the production regime at Formica, all works are carefully planned and programmed so no disruption occurs to daily productivity.
Most often works are undertaken outside of normal working hours and factory shutdown periods to minimise disruption.
Our organisation continues to work alongside Formica Ltd on an on-going basis to provide the necessary maintenance, planned capital spend or reactive emergency repairs as required by the Client.
